How to Use Castor Oil for Good Health

Castor oil is a common home remedy that fell out of favor with the general public. However, with the resurgence of homeopathic treatments, castor oil is coming back into favor as a remedy for everything from constipation to arthritis. Here are a few ways that castor oil can restore good health.

Castor oil remedy

Use castor oil to ease constipation. It is widely know for its laxative properties, so taking one tablespoon a night until the bowels move will help alleviate your constipation.
Make a castor oil pack to improve blood flow. Saturate a piece of heavy cloth or flannel with castor oil. Place the material directly on the skin of the affected area, place the plastic bag on top of the flannel, and then place the heating pad or hot water bottle on top of the plastic bag. Keep in place for an hour. This can relieve symptoms of lower back pain, arthritis, headaches, and various intestinal disorders.
Take castor oil to help dry out the membranes that produce mucus in the nasal cavities. Add one tablespoon with your regular medicine and use it to treat stuffy nose.
Apply castor oil to skin affected by acne with a cotton ball and leave overnight. You should see a difference in the morning. For more persistent acne, repeat treatment until it is clear.
Place a little bit of castor oil on an eyelid sty with a cotton swab several times a day to eliminate the infected pore.
Castor Oil softens thick calluses and removes corns: Castor oil application will soften any rough or thickened skin, including calluses and corns. To treat corns, apply castor oil over your feet and put cotton socks on before going to bed. (Incidentally, sleeping with castor oil socks on will also soothe painful heels and foot pain.)
Castor Oil cures skin infections like athlete’s foot and ringworm: Apply a castor oil soaked cloth on the affected area. If it is small enough, a bandaid with a few drops of castor oil can be used instead.
Castor Oil prevents stretch marks: Rub a small amount of castor oil over your stomach and thighs daily to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy or periods of weight gain.
Castor Oil will remove age spots (liver spots): Rub castor oil into your age spots every night. The age spot will lighten over time, and continued use will eventually remove the age spot completely.
